from the Ward 6 newsletter http://www.lasvegasnevada.gov/Government/Ward6.htm
The Horse Interchange design plans are approximately 99 percent complete. The consultant is working on the final submittal. The construction of the interchange will start the first quarter of 2008. The project is expected to take two years with completion in the first quarter 2010.
Major items being addressed now are completion of right of way acquisition, finalization of the cooperative agreement with NDOT and utility relocations. This project is contingent on NDOT's U.S. 95 North environmental document. The finalization of this process has been delayed slightly. It is now expected that the Federal Highway Administration will allow this project to move forward in January.
This is a $60 million full single point urban interchange and includes realigned frontage roads, signals and significant regional drainage improvements. Funding will be through the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada, the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, federal Safety-Lu, and City Sanitation funds.

The Elk Ridge Homeowner’s Association is sponsoring a Fall Festival in the Park on Saturday, October 20, 2007. This event will feature our new circuit training equipment which will be installed within the next several weeks and will promote community involvement within Elk Ridge. This will be a fun filled day with food and beverages provided, demonstrations on use of the new circuit training equipment, games for the kids, and other activities for everyone. All Elk Ridge residents and their guests are encourage to attend.
As you may be aware, Elk Ridge received a $3,000 grant from the City of Las Vegas Neighborhood Partners Fund to go toward this equipment. (Please see the Elk Ridge HOA website for full details on this grant.) Benchmark, our community management company, has donated $500.00 to help sponsor the Fall Festival. The members of your Board of Directors are volunteering their time and effort to organize the activities.
Volunteers from the community are needed to help organize and participate at the event. In order to receive the grant, our community as a whole must volunteer 200 hours of preparation and event time with a goal of promoting community involvement. We need volunteers to help with games, food service and clean up. The Board would encourage the kids of all ages to get involved and help with the event and clean up afterwards. If you or your company are able to help with a donation (ie. paper goods, water bottles etc.), or volunteer some time, please contact the Board at BOD @ elkridgehoa.com.
Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this community event. More information will follow. What better way to get out and meet your neighbors and get involved in the community!

The Board met with the installer and landscaper yesterday and installation should begin by 3/19 at the latest and take 7 - 10 days to complete. While work is being done, an orange fence will be erected for safety reasons. Please keep children away from the work area.
Update: They are a week behind from the previous job...supposed to start next Wednesday, 3/28.
Update: Now it doesn't look like it is going to be this week. It is hard to find good help.
