Points from the last meeting
A couple of points from the last meeting. We found out how to get $5000 from the city per year for improvements. We also found out that the survey for playground equipment came back in favor, so we are going to send out a ballot now so we can actually spend the money. We do need 125 yes responses though, so do not discard your ballot. And lastly, we have hired a new landscaper and given the existing one notice. The new landscaper is going to replace the flowering plants in the planters and make corrections to the drip system so that they will survive.

Are we going vote on the original playground equipment that over half of the community did not like? I know people brought up some different ideas via websites and so on. The equipment that was originally proposed was a joke and no kids will play on that stuff. I think people need to know what playground equipment we are supposed to vote on. Also why do we need 5000 dollars from the city? We have plenty of money from this HOA floating around. I mean the HOA and the BOD have not spent anything on this neighborhood. Look at the community dead flowers in the planters all of the time weeds all over scraped up block walls violations everywhere broken gates for over 3 months ect.. I think the BOD needs to get there act together and let the HOA spend some of the money we have to clean and improve our neighborhood.
I agree with Brandon. The orginal playground equipment proposal wasn't the type of playground I would want my kids playing on. I would suggest sending out the proposed playground equipment and the layout with the voting ballot. If we can get money from the city, why don't we lower our HOA fees? From what I seen, we have a very large surplus. Does that mean we are paying too much or not spending enough to maintain our neighborhood? And you really can't say we live in a gated community, if the gate never closes.
how about we take the $5000 from the city and get these gates fixed once and for all,im guessing that the back gates have been broken over 50% of the time we have lived here,so how about getting it done right or replacing what ever it is that keeps breaking.
I also agree. I have a friend who lives in Tapistry Homes By Asoria just across the freeway off Durango. They have in there community 3 swimming pools with rec centers, 3 fully loaded parks with water features for the kids and picnic tables with barbques. They have all that for on;y $47.00 per month. We pay $53.00 a month for what opur park has nothing. For one thing there is way too much grassy area and not enough room for a nice junglegym. The one proposed is not nice enough for the money. I have 3 kids and neither one like the one the community wants to put in. And as far as the gates go. We should just have them removed. They are costing us way too much moey and they are doing no good. If anyone gets the chance to see the parks across the freeway at Tapistry you'll wonder where all our community's money is going.

It very apparent that we have a bunch of Incompetent people on the board of directors and our new HOA. This community is a joke. We have a gate that never works! We have a walkway of grass with no toys for the kids! We have dead flowers in the planters all of the time! Where the heck is our money going? I think as a community we have had enough of this BOD and now the new HOA they both are doing a terrible job. I think a bunch of 5 year olds could do a better job at running this community. We as homeowners need to vote off these board members and get new ones that can do there job.
I also feel that the gates are not effective and serve no purpose, since they rarely ever work. Also, the gates just slow down the police that seem to be here every week. I, too, think we should remove them.
I also question why we are paying $53.00 a month. As far as I can see, our neighborhood is in shambles. For such a new community, it is certainly does not look that way. I know people that pay far less to their associations and their neighborhoods are immaculate. We pay the association dues so that our neighborhood will maintain it's value, but this is not happening. I get so upset every time I think of paying dues and not seeing the benefit.
Has anyone noticed that all this week we have recieved no mail? I called the post office and our mailboxes were broke into this last Sunday night 8/5. If you get a chance to look at how damaged they are in the mailboxes at the back of the park. Those mailboxes are located in a dark secluded spot with houses around it that no one lives in. It's very easy for anyone to break into them there. I'm glad I was able to get my mail out on saturday but feel sorry for those who did not. It's now Wednesday 8/9 and the association nor the postoffice has informed anyone of the break in. Don't we all feel so sake in this neiborhood? Is anyone going to do anything about it? My husband see's people walking around the neiborhood all hours of the night when he leaves for work. Normal people don't take strolls down the street at 3am. Our association suchs and feel our 53.00 a month is a waste of money.
The mail boxes getting broken should not surprise anybody in our neighborhood. I am not surprised that neither the BOD nor the HOA informed anyone that the mailboxes were broken into. The BOD is just as bad as our 2 HOA'S we have had. I personally think it is time for change. This BOD has done nothing to improve neither this community nor its surroundings. I fill we have a right to know if our mailboxes get broken into. I have no idea why we have a BOD they do nothing for our neighborhood and have done a terrible job to say it nicely. I think the playground equipment proposal is a joke as well. I along with several homeowners have voted NO! Because we need something for all kids not just big kids. The playground equipment that was proposed will not pass because it is not worth the money period. The website link on this HOA site shows a lot better equipment for a lot less money. The BOD needs to wake up and smell the coffee and start helping this community look and feel better about itself.
